This residential property in Billings, Montana, underwent a balcony deck refurbishment. Introduction
Situated in Billings, in Montana, this residential balcony offers a perfect place to relax and enjoy the owner’s garden, however, years of exposure and heavy use had significantly compromised both its appearance and performance. The existing balcony deck required a full tear-off and reboard to establish a sound substrate for waterproofing.

The team stripped the existing deck, and reboarded the balcony to create a sturdy, and durable substrate. Following this, the surface was primed with Stormcure SA Primer, then overlaid with Stormcure Standard Base Ply, installed butt-jointed for a smooth, seamless base for the new waterproofing system.
The Stormcure Solution
Protec FW-25, our fully reinforced, cold-applied liquid waterproofing membrane, was installed in the color Light Gray across the entire newly boarded balcony deck surface. To ensure optimum waterproofing, the membrane was extended 1ft onto the adjacent pitched roof, after which new shingles were installed. Following a thorough sanding for an ultra-smooth surface, a second coat of Protec FW-25 was applied to smooth the appearance and provide extra durability.
The designated surfacing area was masked-off before installing ProGrip anti-slip coating, creating a durable anti-slip finish to the balcony area. A layer of PolyFinish White was then applied over the ProGrip, to provide an easy-clean, scratch resistant surface, making it particularly well-suited for use beneath balcony furniture. The combination of ProGrip and PolyFinish delivers a functional, durable finish that balances safety, low maintenance, and visual appeal for long-term outdoor performance.
