What is our
MPeC Technology?
MPeC, standing for Modified Polyester Composite, is the proprietary technology of Roberts Group powering the liquid applied membranes supplied by Stormcure.
It combines unique, modified polyester resins with a chopped strand mat (CSM) fiberglass reinforcement, creating a highly durable, waterproof and flexible composite membrane with a range of advantageous installation and performance properties.
Most importantly, MPeC technology provides meaningful benefits to contractors, specifiers and building owners, who have trusted the membranes designed and manufactured by the family-owned Roberts Group to protect their assets for well over 40 years.

The Benefits of MPeC Technology
MPeC technology combines the strength and durability of composite materials with the flexibility required for demanding roofing and waterproofing applications. It retains excellent impact resistance, waterproofing and shear performance while providing sufficient elasticity to accommodate structural movements, regardless of the size or complexity of the area.
MPeC membranes are designed for fast, seamless installation, with modified polyester resins that quickly break down the binders in the fiberglass reinforcement for easy encapsulation around complex details, flashings and drains. Fiberglass reinforcement also requires less resin than alternatives such as non-woven polyester fleece, helping reduce both material costs and carbon footprint.
Roberts Group’s MPeC resins use a catalyst to initiate and control the curing process, resulting in a finish that can be walked-on as soon as 30 minutes after installation. This means that the full system installation can be completed in hours, rather than days, resulting in a rapid solution that keeps labor costs and client disruption to a minimum. However, what truly sets MPeC apart from other catalyst control systems is its performance in higher temperatures, where our innovative SlowCure formulations providing workability of 15-20 minutes - even in 40°C temperatures.
MPeC membranes deliver exceptional UV resistance, long-term durability and strong solar reflectivity, achieving 30-year durability ratings with as little as 1.5L/m² of modified polyester material. When combined with Roberts Group’s colorfast, IR-reflective pigments, they can also help reduce heat build-up and energy costs. MPeC is also designed to look as good as it performs. The CSM fibreglass blends seamlessly between runs, creating a smooth, aesthetically seamless finish that meets both performance and visual expectations.
Roberts Group’s MPeC membrane technology is built on over 40 years of proven performance, supported by continued investment in research and development. Independent certifications from globally recognised bodies including FM Approvals, UL Solutions, European Technical Assessment and the BBA give clients confidence that MPeC meets the highest international standards.

The Versatility of MPeC Technology

The Science Behind MPeC Technology
Confidence Backed by University Research
Advanced numerical modelling by the University of Sheffield demonstrated the resilience of MPeC waterproofing at parapet details under demanding wind loads and movement associated with seismic events.
- Confidence under wind loading and structural movement
- Substantial wind-load safety margins
- Resilience under assessed seismic movement
These findings indicate that, when parapets are properly designed and constructed, MPeC is not expected to fracture under the conditions assessed or represent a critical vulnerability in seismic regions.
Results relate to the configurations, material assumptions and loading conditions assessed in the numerical study.

The Best Qualities, Combined

More Than Resin and Reinforcement.
A Composite Built to Last.
Chopped strand fiberglass matting and Stormcure proprietary resin work together to create a strong, durable and flexible composite membrane.
The transformation begins as the resin saturates the matting, dissolving its binder and releasing individual glass fibers throughout the resin. Once catalyzed, the resin cures around these fibers to form a continuous, reinforced composite. The fiberglass becomes an integral part of the membrane itself.
Unlike polyester fleece, which primarily acts as a carrier for liquid resin, fiberglass reinforces the resin matrix, delivering tensile strength and shear resistance.
During application, the saturated matting conforms around tight corners, complex shapes and intricate details. This helps create continuous waterproofing around penetrations, transitions and other vulnerable areas.
The result: fiberglass strength and resin flexibility, combined in one seamless waterproofing membrane.
