The client wanted a warm roof build-up that would mimic the look of a zinc-effect metal roof. Our Stormcure Protec FW-25 system met all the client’s criteria, offering a long-lasting waterproof solution backed by a 25-year warranty. It was also visually appealing, complementing the building’s design.
Project Challenges
The client had a very strict criteria for the roof of this prestigious apartment block. It had to be a warm roof in compliance with all jurisdictional building codes, regulations and standards, with a warranty of up to 25 years, and be able to fully encapsulate the PV cell stanchions and simulate the look of zinc sheets.
Stormcure’s Protec FW-25 system ticked all of these boxes and was chosen for the works. The first stage was to install the insulation and a plywood deck to which Stormcure Pre-Formed GRP Standing Seam trims were fixed.
The Protec FW-25 system was then applied to the whole roof area, encapsulating the standing seam trims and the PV stanchions, to provide a fully seamless and flexible waterproofing membrane that faithfully reproduced the look of zinc at a fraction of the cost.
The Stormcure Solution
Another roof area was to be finished with a green roof design to provide an attractive space for the residents to overlook. There were also large balcony areas that the client wished to finish with paving slabs to complement the modern appearance of the apartment block.
The client needed a waterproofing solution that was not only durable and long lasting but, being a fully covered application, needed to be maintenance free to avoid costly and disruptive temporary removal works. Being seamless, robust, and highly durable, the Stormcure Protec FW-25 system provided the client with total peace of mind whilst minimizing the need to remove the green roof and paving slabs for maintenance/inspections.
The finished roof underwent a thorough inspection and after multiple checks, was signed off for warranty, leaving the client pleased with both the service and the product delivered.
