A durable, fast-curing waterproofing solution was required to protect 91,493ft² of roof for this new Sports Complex. The client sought a long-lasting roof that would complement the aesthetic appeal of the brand new facility—and trusted Stormcure to deliver. Project Challenges
This newly constructed sports complex was designed with high-quality materials to harmonize with the surrounding parkland and meet stringent environmental standards.
The facility offers expanded amenities, eight-lane, 25-meter swimming pool, a larger, adaptable learner pool, a 15-court sports hall, multi-station gym, and an indoor cycling studio. A fast-curing, watertight roofing system was essential to complement the aesthetics of the new structure.
Stormcure’s Technical Services, in partnership with an Authorized Stormcure Contractor, took on the task of insulating and waterproofing over 91,493 square feet of flat roof space for this large-scale project.
Stormcure’s Technical Services team collaborated closely with all stakeholders early in the design phase, ensuring a smooth installation process by proactively addressing any potential issues before work commenced.
The Stormcure Solution
Stormcure Protec FW-25 was selected for this construction project for the same reasons it’s become one of the fastest-growing cold-applied liquid roofing systems in both new construction and renovation markets. Its ease of application and rapid curing times enabled the roof of this new sports complex to be completed quickly.
The Stormcure Protec FW-25 System provided waterproofing for all flat roof areas, as well as extensive parapet wall sections. The roof design was split into two systems: the Protec FW-25 Warm Roof System, covering approximately 80,729ft², and Protec FW-25 applied direct to concrete as part of an inverted roof design, covering around 10,763ft².
Stormcure collaborated closely with Approved Contractors throughout installation, ensuring any challenges were quickly identified and resolved—saving the client both time and money.
The project was completed on schedule without impacting other construction work, thanks to Protec FW-25’s fast curing times of just 30–60 minutes per coat.
Using the Protec FW-25 system was essential to meeting the project’s deadline due to its efficiency and ease of installation. The waterproofing solution was further complemented by adding new outlets and terminations at upstand abutments, enhancing waterproofing integrity and leaving the new building with a warranty of up to 25 years for long-term watertight protection.
Throughout the works, Stormcure’s Technical Team kept up to date with the client, giving them peace of mind the original specification was followed. The completed roof underwent a rigorous inspection and was signed off for warrantee, leaving the client extremely satisfied with the quality of both service and product. The client was left with complete peace of mind that the new sports complex will remain dry for years to come.
