This aging paddling pool required desperate attention as there were multiple detailing issues and cracking had appeared within the expansion details. The client required a cost effective, long lasting solution and knew Stormcure could deliver.
Project Challenges
Following an initial assessment from Stormcure’s Authorized Contractors, this paddling pool was proven aged and suffering with detailing issues. Some of the expansion joints were suffering with cracking which needed to be replaced immediately.
As this is a paddling pool, and not a roof area, no core tests were required to be carried out by Stormcure’s Technical Team, yet suitable assessments were taken to determine the appropriate solution for this aging paddling pool.
The client sought a cost effective, cold applied solution, with a long warranty. Despite recent repairs having been carried out, cracking in the outlets continued to be a problem. It was essential to restore the pool’s waterproofing quickly, with minimal disruption.
The Stormcure Solution
After a thorough assessment, it was determined that no strip would be required as the existing waterproof coverings were in a suitable condition to be overlayed. This would mean no costly and disruptive strip-and-replace works were necessary, keeping costs to a minimum, meeting the clients needs.
Protec FW-25 was applied to the existing gutter edge around the pool. Some of the expansion joints in the underlying concrete deck were showing cracks, requiring rectification using PU flexible sealer and disbondment tape prior to application of the Stormcure FW-25 System.
The existing outlet and filtration vent covers were temporarily removed to allow Protec FW-25 to fully encapsulate these areas and reinstated upon completion of works. A new stainless-steel clamped cover will be installed on the main center outlet to ensure complete waterproofing.
The rest of the paddling pool, including the artificial beach area, was fully encapsulated with Protec FW-25 and PolyFinish in colors matching the original specifications.
The use of the Protec FW-25 resin system was crucial in helping meet the project deadline, while keeping it cost effective, thanks to its efficiency and simple installation. The waterproofing solution was complemented by the installation of new outlets to further enhance waterproofing integrity.
The Stormcure Technical Team conducted a thorough final inspection of the completed paddling pool and signed off on the warranty, leaving the client extremely pleased with both the quality of service and the final product delivered.
